Family Goals for 2023
This is the first full year with our daughter, Lizzy. As a new family, we are setting goals and aspirations to make the most of this new year. Here are our family goals for 2023. I hope they provide inspiration for goal setting for your family.
Go on a hike at least once a month
My husband and I love to explore, visit historical sites, and enjoy nature. Living in Colorado on the front range, we have access to countless trails, breathtaking scenery, and (for the most part) beautiful weather. We look forward to sharing these adventures with our daughter. She absolutely loves going on walks with us in her baby carrier. She usually falls asleep with the movement. Weather permitting, our family goal for 2023 is to hike at least one trail a month. Follow our hiking adventures on YouTube.
Strive for healthy eating
A common goal most of us share each year is to eat healthier and exercise more. Since our latest pregnancy, my husband and I have made more meals at home, eating out less, and have added more healthy options to our plates. As we discover more family favorite, healthy recipes, we will share them with you.
Go on a road trip
We moved out to Colorado shortly after our cross-country road trip we took for a job interview winner of 2018. We absolutely fell in love with the beautiful landscape, culture, and climate. We continue to enjoy road trips. This summer, our goal is to road trip to Mesa Verde, CO to see the cliff dwellings.
Travel back to our hometown
My husband and I are high school sweethearts. Our parents and most of our family still live in Northern Illinois. By our daughter’s year birthday, we would like to travel back to see family and show Lizzy where we grew up.
Finish renovating our house Finish renovating our house
My husband and I bought a fixer-upper just over a year ago. We painted the upstairs and replaced the flooring. The walls are now mostly painted in the lower level. This ongoing project has consumed a lot of time; however, the results are gratifying.
Organize the house
Having a baby has shown my husband and I that we need better systems and organization in our life. We are learning ways to be more efficient with daily tasks and reduce the clutter in our lives.
Build the savings account for our daughter
Life can be expensive. We want to prepare our daughter to be financially responsible in life. To think about her future, we are setting aside a little each month to help her when she is an adult. There are many different types of accounts you can use, including, general savings, brokerage accounts, college savings and life insurance.
Be more involved in the community
As we are starting our family, we realize, now more than ever, how important it is to have a community to be a part of. Whether it be a small group at church, meetings at the local library, or gatherings of people with similar interests or life circumstances, a community provides support, encouragement, and a place to share in both celebration and sorrows.
As we conclude our family goals for 2023, we hope this year brings blessings and adventure for you and your family.
